A door shuts for Cinema 10 and all its memories
DESTIN, FL — The Lively Cinema 10 closed last weekend after 27 years business. They spent more than half their time as the only cinema in town and didn’t even suffer greatly when a competitor opened nearby. The digital conversion was one obstacle they couldn’t overcome.

Moviegoers say goodbye to Longmont’s Twin Peaks theater
LONGMONT, CO — It may have only opened in 1997 but the Twin Peaks 10 gave its audiences its fair share of memories. Once the former Twin Peaks Mall is redeveloped into the Village Twin Peaks, there will be a new theater. That’s not until 2015 though.

Dixie to close
STAUNTON, VA — The Dixie Theater will close on July 27 due to rising expenses. It’s particularly upsetting given they only recently spent thousands converting two of their four screens to digital. It’s unclear what its owner, Staunton Performing Arts Center, plans to do with the building but before it closes, they’ll be screening some fan favorites like “Back to the Future” and “Raiders of the Lost Ark.”

St. Albans Drive-In closes
ST. ALBANS, VT — It’s still unclear why but the St. Albans Drive-In has closed for good. After 66 years in business, it’s now up for sale.

Midway Drive-In hit by storm
MINETTO, NY — The Midway Drive-In was hit hard by last week’s storm, destroying most of the screen. It’s closed until further notice and locals are already rallying to save it.

Clay Theatre closes
GREEN COVE SPRINGS, FL — After less than two years back in business, the Clay Theatre has closed again. It just didn’t get enough support to keep the doors open and its future is now unclear.

End of an era in Forest Hills
FOREST HILLS, NY — The neighborhood favorite Brandon Cinemas closed last weekend after almost four decades in business. The plan is to open a pediatric health facility in its place. While mostly know recently for playing art-house films, when it was a single-screen in the ‘70s it did big business with “Star Wars.”

Pot Belly’s Cinema to close
ST. AUGUSTINE, FL — Running the 36 year-old Pot Belly’s Cinema has become too much for the current owners and they’ve decided to close. Have no fear though, the new owners plan to keep it as a theatre following some renovations. Some collectibles from the theatre will be sold off this Saturday.

Condos proposed for Mamaroneck movie theater
MAMARONECK, NY — The Mamaroneck Playhouse quietly closed last weekend with no firm plans on its future. It’s Bow Tie’s preference to sell the property to a developer that would put housing units there. How many original features would remain is in question though.

Ken Cinema to close?
SAN DIEGO, CA — Landmark has announced they’re not renewing their lease on the Ken Cinema which expires at the end of the month. Without digital projection, the future of the site is unclear. The art house favorite has been open since 1947.
