No movies,single or double,played there after early January 1981. I know this because it was on my school bus route from Henderson to Variety School For The Handicapped until my family went back to California in September 1981. Both the screen and marquee remained but deteriorated pretty quickly.
This was five minutes from where I lived as a kid. Of course,it opened just over four years after we left. Our old go to drive-in,the Airline,was fifteen minutes away going down the I-45 Freeway towards the downtown area.
The owner/operatorship is only slightly correct. In the mid ‘70s,the Loews theatres that didn’t go to General Cinema went to the short lived Century Cinema Circuit. In 1976,Seattle Washington based SRO Theatres took over until Pacific acquired most of the lot in late 1983.

Had a 70mm auditorium. I remember seeing “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” there.
Its actual closing date was July 8,1999. Closing date ad in the pictures section.
Shortly after it closed as a Pussycat theatre,it became known as The Fontana Family Theatre until sometime in 1983.

Only Close Encounters is incorrect. The others did play there. Close Encounters played at the Deauville Twin for a week.
Scott,you’re correct. “Police Academy 5” was the last movie to play there when it closed on March 30,1988.
