Auditorium 7 is becoming an XD auditorium. New seat count will be slightly higher. DBOX motion seats will also be added to that theater only.

Theater closed and is slated to be demolished in the future. City wants to develop housing on the land that has been in development before Cinemark took over. The food court next door will be demolished as well.

The theater was not demolished but repurposed into a forever 21. The building itself is still there including its long hall to the new theaters.

The building opened as a 14 screen. One theater was combined with another to form 13. Later two small theaters were closed off for a long corridor and the two new large balcony theaters. It ended with 13.

@Scott: This theater is 10 screens! 4 theaters in lobby and 6 down a hallway. Im sure they split two of the screens to make the 6. You can see photos of the hallway on Google Maps.

AMC has opened this theater as a 6 plex next to the HOB this past Friday. It uses the 6 theaters formerly of the Ultraluxe. Official name is AMC Gardenwalk 6.

rayman29 – Anaheim still has a couple theaters inside the city (Edwards Festival 14, Cinema City 12). Plus a few right on the city limits (Century Orange Stadium for example).

Hold on. Not so fast. Rumor has it that the theater may reopen, but on a smaller scale. Demolition has started but apparently they will be keeping auditoriums 9-14 untouched or partially gutted. They will wall off the lobby area for the HOB but the mall wants a small 6 screen theater still. So the theater may not be completely dead yet. The HOB will take over the side of theaters 1-8 including the former IMAX screen.

Scott it’s gonna be a complete demo. It’s in the process of being demolished.

Status of this should be changed to demolished. Demolition of the theater has started. There are a few nice gaping holes in the wall.

Scott, I’ve been to this complex many times.

I think the original 6/9 is still there. The 4 added screens would be on top of what was a former department store. This and a new lobby and concession area. The 6 screens down the hall are small and the hall is narrow. Plus all the windows in the front would give it away as a old theater. There are restrooms there too separate from the main lobby. I’m guessing the concession would be behind a wall before the hallway.

Side note: one of the new screens is bad. Support post right as you walk in. Keep seeing it every time you sit in the stadium section. It’s off on the left side and not in the way of the screen but not hard to notice it.

AMC lowered the screen count at Covina from 30 to 17. One wing is closed off completely.

When regal took over a 20 plex in San Bernardino they lopped off 6 screens to make it 14.

When AmStar took over the Grand 24, 10 screens were removed. And there are others that lowered screen counts.

Hasn’t that project been in the works now for like 6 years? Will it finally get off the ground?

The finish line store that took the place of this theater right after it closes has moved to another part of the mall. The door to this space was left open this past week and you could stare right into the old theater space. It has been gutted again. What’s going in now who knows.

So I’m guessing harkins where nordstroms is and dicks where the theater is currently.

Would make more sense as the theater would be closer to the food court.

According to mall tenants, Regal is working on building a new theater at the mall, where the old Nordstrom store was. No planned opening date yet or no plans finalized. If this is true this will be the fourth theater at the mall, and third in the mall.

Plans are there. They used all 10 screens. It’s a huge complex now. Theaters range in size from 30-96. The large house I believe used to hold over 400!

I think that the remodel may have lowered the screen count. When looking at construction pics, they seem to have used only the original building and the business spaces in front of it. This theater used to be 2 buildings, an 8 plex and a 2 plex with the large screens. I don’t think they used the 2 plex space. I haven’t seen any confirmation but why would they make a luxury theater in 2 buildings across from each other.

For the first time in about 2 years.. I visited the Beverly center. I walked into the Forever 21 and looked around at what was the theater. A new escalator was installed from the mall into the area that once was aud 11-12. The shape of the theater can be seen as the store curves down the original hall. A second set of escalators takes you from the original lobby to the upstairs lobby. The elevator was moved. Upstairs is the stunner, the small narrow old lobby opens up into what were the two balcony theaters. High ceiling but way low compared to what it was before. The stairs were removed from the lower level to the upper, and the theaters flattened to one level in line with the mall, no longer raised up. It’s depressing to see it this way.

Looks like the end is near for the newer addition. According to the UT, the last remaining tenant of the old Robinsons store, Sam Goody, is closing. Once closed the mall will tear down the store (along with the 7 screen addition) for a new park. Once again this theater will be 7 screens, as it was originally.

Tinseltoes – it looks like the theater in the box office mag is still around. Its not this theater but one located in a shopping center around 9301 W 58th Ave. You can see it close to 57th Ave. The carport the article describes is still visible. Dont know any details about it.. but its still up!
