Promenade Stadium 13

The 2,800-seat Regal 13 opened on April 28, 2000 at The Avenue at the Peninsula. The other upscale shops at the Avenue, which opened the previous December 9, had been waiting for this occasion because they considered the cinema to be an important anchor. According to newspaper ads, the former Regal Theatre at the Avenue closed sometime before.

In the 1998 planning stages the Daily Breeze reported that the former mall would have its roof ripped off to become an open-air center. That entailed raising the roof of Macy’s so Regal could expand on the third floor. Regal, which bought the former Krikorian Theater in the spring of 1996, originally wanted 16 screens.

The lifestyle center is now called Promenade On The Peninsula.

I’ve been here a couple of times. The last time was to see “Real Steel” in one of their nicely sized auditoriums.

Looking for confirmation that this theatre contains the original Krikorian 6/9-plex and is not a completely new build. (I can’t fathom how it would be… nobody DECIDES to build lopsided theatres like this one).

Scott, I’ve been to this complex many times.

I think the original 6/9 is still there. The 4 added screens would be on top of what was a former department store. This and a new lobby and concession area. The 6 screens down the hall are small and the hall is narrow. Plus all the windows in the front would give it away as a old theater. There are restrooms there too separate from the main lobby. I’m guessing the concession would be behind a wall before the hallway.

Side note: one of the new screens is bad. Support post right as you walk in. Keep seeing it every time you sit in the stadium section. It’s off on the left side and not in the way of the screen but not hard to notice it.
