New luxury theater opens in Glendale

GLENDALE, CA — Delays due retrofitting made the wait longer than expected but Glendale’s luxury Five Star Cinema is now open in the former Mann Exchange 10. Like local competitor iPic, Five Star aims to bring patrons in with in-theater dining and plush seats with a call button. Their tickets are about $10 less expensive though.

With such small theatres and tiny screens why did they not just put in 5 cinemas with a larger seat capacity and big screens. People will just stay home for food and watch on their large home screens and save $20. No call button needed.
I think that the remodel may have lowered the screen count. When looking at construction pics, they seem to have used only the original building and the business spaces in front of it. This theater used to be 2 buildings, an 8 plex and a 2 plex with the large screens. I don’t think they used the 2 plex space. I haven’t seen any confirmation but why would they make a luxury theater in 2 buildings across from each other.

Plans are there. They used all 10 screens. It’s a huge complex now. Theaters range in size from 30-96. The large house I believe used to hold over 400!

And $10 tickets??? Nope! Try $16.75 for matinees and $19.75 for evening shows! Saw the prices myself on their website.
