Closed on september 1st 2025, because the lease ended and a new one could not be negociated du to the exhorbitant price demanded by the building owner.
The cinema closed its doors for good on November 5, 2019, following the opening of a multiplex in the city center near the train station.
La sirène à Barbe is a cabaret, not a movie theater! So the correct name is REX!
After the closure of the “UGC Normandy”, it is a new emblematic theatre of the capital that will dissapear with the final closure of the “Miramar” at the end of the screenings at 8:00 PM, on June 9, 2025!
The last chapter ‘after a period…’ is sadly wrong, the front part of the theatre on te side of the Boulevard Adolphe Max was taken over by the Adjacent Hotel Vendôme, that changed its name in Hotel Mariveaux and used the 2 small box cinemas on the front side as small auditoria of 115 and 75 places, the big theatre on the Rue Saint Pierre side with it’s 2 balconies served as a car parking (I have pictures) and was seriously degraded. In 2021 it was demolished, only preserving the Facade and the Art-nouveau entrance and stairs in a new Student housing project. https://unaa.eu/projets/marivaux-residence-for-students-and-young-professionals/
The entrance to this theatre has been relocated at the Tuerlensteg 29 of the neighboring newly built complex. The old entrance is now occupied by a restaurant, the the building itself still stands but the core was taken out to build new screens inside the old shell.
This cinema was closed and demolished to build the new Traumpalast kino that is connected with the old cinema building of the ‘Turm theatre center kino’ at the pfeiffergäsle, to form a new compex of 10 theatres! The entrance at the pfeiffergäsle is now a restaurant.
This theatre was taken over by the Kinepolis group and is now Kinepolis Belfort!

I keep repaeting: This teatre is not used as a cinema, no screen is present, so the designation should be ‘closed’!
