Originally a variety theatre named Les Varietes, it was remodelled by architect Robert Armandary in 1931 as an Art Deco style single screen cinema with 2,500-seats.

In the 1970’s it was converted by UGC France into a 9-screen multiplex. It was closed in July 2019. It was converted into a temporary attraction Escape Game named Dante’s Cinema which operated from 13th October 2020 to 8th November 2020. Following the closure of that, the auditorium was demolished in 2023. Only the façade was retained.
