Unfortunately, if they were going to reopen the balcony theaters by this coming July, you would think work would be done by now on refurbishing them. I hope the reopening does come to pass…..

It looked like it was a pretty imposing building. Too bad it was demolished.
This theater has such a classic marquee.
I have seen the interior of the Orpheum used in many different things in film, and TV.
Have they altered any of the original screens to have stadium seating?
Aside from the theater looking much more run down today, it hasn’t changed all that much.
Aside from the marquee a little different and the name, it doesn’t look too much different today.

While it’s a shame the Paramount is lost, at least they brought back the exterior, and a recreation of the marquee.
That is a beautiful photo! And it appears, traffic was just as dreadful on Hollywood Blvd in 1939 as it is today!

I guess so long as it showed “film”, it qualifies although yes, this is certainly stretching it as a cinema “treasure”!
