The Majestic Theater in the Ridgewood section of Queens, is listed in the American Motion Picture Directory 1914-1915. In the 1945 Film Daily Yearbook, the seating is shown as 550. The Majestic Theater closed sometime in the mid-1950’s.
After standing vacant for almost a decade, the building was purchased in 1964 and converted to a funeral home called Seneca Chapels. It remains a funeral home today.

The Majestic had a pretty nice “classic” cinema marquee, and must have been something to see lit up at night. it appears to have already been closed at the time of this photo though.

Wow, it’s a long time since I have seen a comment in this theater! I just drove by this theater the other day for the first time in years and thought of this site….
Judging by the old photo posted in the photo section of this theater, the Majestic had a beautiful classic marquee. I wonder how old that photo is.
Wow, if that’s a 1939 photo, it appears the Majestic was already abandoned by that point.
well, perhaps it just looked run down in the photo, and not abandoned.

Never knew this was a movie house, appears the exterior was altered extensively. Wonder if any theater remnants remain?
