Bucks County Drive-In possible return
WARRINGTON, PA — I’m thinking of bring back the Bucks County D-I back for ONE night. I own large inflatable movie screens for showing movies in the parks, etc. I was thinking of putting it up on the parking lot where the D-I once stood. I would supply the screen, audio w/ FM radio sound and projector.
Lowes does let a car show use its parking lot. Heres the problem: I can not do it alone. If you are interested in helping
Thanks,

Theater chains rally against proposed nutritional information rules
SEATTLE, WA — The nation’s theater chains are filing challenges against new rules proposed by the Food and Drug Administration that would require movie theaters and other businesses that sell refreshments to supply caloric and other nutritional information comparable to that which is currently required on most packaged foods.
“It’s easy enough to blow your whole diet for a week from one snack at the movie theater,” said Margo Wootan, the director of nutrition policy at the Center for Science in the Public Interest in Washington. “Just because you happen to be watching a movie while you’re eating doesn’t mean you aren’t eating out.”
The chains claim that it was not the intent of Congress to require theaters and food stands to provide this information. At least one member of Congress disagrees.
The full story is in the Seattle Times.

70mm in Rochester, NY?
I’m trying to research 70mm engagements in my hometown with the help of the info posted by Michael Coate and Bill Kallay on in70mm and From Script to DVD. Mike has also asked me to help with his Cinerama project and that info should be posted within a few weeks.
Mainly what I’m looking for is information on any possible 70mm engagements in the late 80s/early 90s, as the local newspapers stopped advertising sound systems (Dolby/stereo/70mm) in their film ads around 1989. Before then, most 70mm runs were prominently mentioned in the Democrat & Chronicle/Times-Union. (At least that’s what the microfilm says…)

St. Peter theater in danger of closing
ST. PETER, MN — The St. Peter 5 has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy and the action may mean doom for the struggling theater, which opened in 2006. Currently operated by CineMagic (which has financial troubles of its own), the theater is in default on two loans.
“We’ll caucus with Nicollet County Bank, which holds the first mortgage, to come up with a plan to protect the assets of the city,” Wille said. “The big question is, ‘Is this going to be a viable business concern going forward?’ ”
Potential options for the theater’s fate include having the bank sell the property to a third party or having the city obtain ownership of real estate assets by paying off the theater note of $432,000 and leasing theater operations or selling the business.
