    Looking for a marketing/promotions position

    Hello all!

I have over 7 years in movie theater management, and I’m ready to leap to the next level. I am ideally looking for a marketing or promotions position (not sales), or graphic design. I’d also consider a position dealing with film numbers or any other corporate position.

I love movies, I love the atmosphere. I just would like to get out of the field and move my career to the next level!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Newsreel theater

    Hi,

I’m not sure if this idea would fly in reality, but I’m wondering how successful an old theater, probably a smaller, neighborhood type or smaller town theater would be if it mainly showed a huge succession of older cartoons (Bugs Bunny, Tom and Jerry, etc.) and newsreels. This begs the question about who or what has the most complete collection of newsreels from maybe the 1920s to the 1960s when they ended. The first one to come to mind is Pathe News but I’m sure there were others. I think this may work if some kind of non-profit organization were placed in charge of a theater that has been rescued and providing such a collection of newsreels and cartoons were available, could charge a minimal admission, maybe less than a dollar, to watch as much or as little of the succession of cartoons and newsreels as the viewer wished within business hours of course. I would appreciate some feedback regarding this idea and if you know who has such a collection of cartoons and newsreels I’m sure many others might be curious to know.

    Thank you!

    Revitalizing Foundry

WASHINGTON, DC — The old Foundry second-run cinema in Georgetown always did a good business. The only reason it was shut down was to make way for the newer, bigger more money multiplex.

I’d like to find a way to use the Visions site for a second-run cinema, mostly because of the location and the fact that the place is already set up as a cinema. Is there anyone who was involved in the running of Visions who would be interested talking to me about the potential and pitfalls of the idea?

    Thanks,
    Jason Haber

    Theater partner wanted

Hello, my wife and I have a few theaters and are opening up a twin screen in Texas. There’s no competition for 45 miles. We are renovating the theater, and would like to have a silent or working partner with a small investment.

If you’re interested, please contact me.

    Thanks

Adaptive reuse of historic movie theaters

    Hi,

I am completing a study of the adaptive reuse of historic movie theaters and churches. Many movie theaters are used as live performance space or event space, but I was wondering if anyone could direct me to some adaptive reuse projects that are unusual or more creative uses of the space.

    Thanks,
    Sarah

    Midnight Movie showing advice

I was wondering if anyone had any info and insight on how I would go about showing older movies on a single screen theater.

Where do I go to find these? What can and can’t I show? How much will it cost to show older movies?

I’ve been kicking around the idea of opening a single screen theater that would specialize on showing older movies that most have not had the chance to see on the big screen. I am also interested in hosting midnight showings of older and newer B-movies. I want to concentrate on quality movies, a great vintage atmosphere, and a concession stand that would serve a vast variety of home grown recipes and snacks.

Alternative uses for mall cineplex building

Does anyone know of a resource or articles that discusses alternative uses for movie cineplex buildings?

I’m doing research into a newer mall 8 theater cineplex that is vacating soon.

I wanted to think of alternative uses for the building mall owner.
