Ritz Theatre

There is not a lot of information about the Ritz Theatre, so its opening date has not yet to be found. It had opened by 1931 when it was listed with 250-seats. Later in the 1930’s the seating capacity was increased to 500-seats

Throughout its history, the Ritz Theatre’s building suffered two differently-sized fires.

The first fire was a major one, occurring in August 1949 destroying both the Ritz Theatre and its neighboring Meeks Café restaurant. Unfortunately, the cause of the fire has determined to be lost at this time, but both the Ritz and the Meeks were rebuilt and reopened in January 1950.

The second fire is a small one, occurring on October 15, 1952 at the Ritz Theatre building which was used as a warehouse by the Jim Miller Army store. The fire suffered none-to-minor damages from the Ritz Theatre.

The Ritz closed for the final time in early-1955.
