This theater was opened as the Center Theatre in 1925 originally seating 400 (now reduced to 260). It has an elegant Neo-Classical/Palladian style facade with four sets of pillasters below a large pediment and a trio of arched doorways (today the theater is actually entered through an adjoining ice cream parlor).
The Bensenville Theatre was twinned a number of years ago, and today presents second-run Hollywood features at bargain prices.

I go to this theater alot because I live in bensenville now. It’s A “cute” little theater with A killer ice cream parlor. I hear that they are going thought some problems thou. I read in the bensenville newsletter that the theater was losing money and was scheduled to close…but I haven’t seen no changes yet and the theater is still open.
P.S. I hope it dosen’t close because I really like this theater.
I do hope this theater doesn’t close. My husband I just bought a condo within walking distance and the theater is one of the main attractions in the area.
It opened October 17, 1925 and cost $90,000 to build. It originally seated about 400, and had a Barton organ. It contained “unusual light fixtures” and was “uniquely plastered”.
Tickets are still only $3, if you don’t mind sitting through “Speed Racer”:

i’m on their email showtime mailing list. i like this place and’ll insist here there is nothing to dislike about it (OK bensenville has a little ways to go for becoming a nightlife hotspot). almost a ‘where have you been all my movie-going life?’ theatre choice.
