Peninsula Drive-In

Located on Peninsula Drive at the entrance to Presque Isle State Park, directly across from Waldameer Park & Water World (an amusement park). The Peninsula Drive-In opened one of its screens on July 17, 1970. The second screen opened the following week. It was closed in 2001 and was demolished in 2004.

The Tom Ridge Environmental Center (which contains the Big Screen Theatre) now stands on the site.

The theater opened in 1973 and closed down in 2001. The land was used as a Flea Market for a short time afterwards before the theater became abandoned for a few years. It was demolished by 2004 and the Tom Ridge Environmental Center finished construction and opened in 2006.

The Peninsula Drive opened on July 17th, 1970, and its second screen a week later. Grand opening ads posted. One screen had shown adult movies year-round.

Opened on 17th July 1970 with “A man named horse” and “Daddy’s gone a-haunting”.

Opened as a twin on 24thnJuly 1970 on both screens with “Paint your wagon” and “True grit”.
