Quite a big refurb don – 11 screens as before All new foyer
Prev Screens 1-5 were to left as you go in, Large screen 6 2 entrances either side of popcorn etc 7-11 to the right with an little arcade.
Now
Screens 1 & 2 look to be same size with new seating carpeting
Screen 3 & 4 now have new entrances via a new corridor between them & look to be larger. Screen 5 has gone Screen 6 is Now the Superscreen (Now called screen 5)
Screen 6 & 7 is where Screen 7, 8,9 were and look to same sizes as 3 & 4 on opp side. Screen 8 (formally Screen 10) Then Screen 9-11 are Smaller screens possbly like screens13-16 at Cineworld Newcastle) which look to be nearly finished so not yet opened. Screen 10 & 11 are accessed by new doorway (where the arcade usd to be) also there are stairs & new lift to disabled access to certain screens (3-5 i think)
Under going refurbishment for leather recliners and armchairs/sofas. I think a mixture of normal seating and those mentioned above (like another Empire cinema) No detailsof prices for upgrades
Thanks for the update – will have to check out when all done -I guess the new screen will be fitted early December in time for Star Wars (maybe get 2 weeks of Frozen 2 in screen 1) as prices are £7 & £5 offpeak from 19th (or earlier if finished)
Based on refurb at Newcastle, Id of thought the smaller screens (3 ,4, 8 & 9 all 117 seats or less at moment) would mostly lkely the ones to goto Flat 1.85.1:1 format. Not sure on studio ones as Newcastle ones are scope (though these were done by Empire)Screen 6 which is a large auditorium (540 seats) id of thought would retain its scope screen for superscreen
Has anyone been since luxe conversion (still £3.00 for the moment) Has Screen 1 had the screen moved forward or resized + S2 & 3 has screen remained same size or gone to 1.85.1?
After not much changing her since opening (apart from DBOX in S8 & screen 3 replacing seats from those that where there in from start Virgin Premiere Screen) Doldon Cineworld Currently under going a major refurbishment – due to be completed spring 2020. Open still during this (Screen 1, 2 & 11 being worked on at the moment). Includes All new seating in screens, Screen 6 getting superscreen upgrade, Screen 11 made into smaller studio style screens (40-60 seats), 3 in total, i think making it 14 screen complex once done. Im sure the lobby will get a spruce up as well
Must still be viable if Odeon spending the cash – Normally loose around 60% of seting so Id thought they would be 160-200 Seats in S1 (just over 500 at present time), and less than 50 in other 2 screens.
Vues prices for 2D VIP seats (non recliner) is £6.95…so Id guess £8 (cheaper than showcase luxe at teesside park)
Saw Apocalypse Now Final Cut here on Screen 1 Isense screen
Nice reclining seats & sound good (Atmos). Disapointed Screen was not scope (looked to be 1.85 as balck bars top & bottom)for the premium add on cost Would guess all screens (6 in total) wll be like this here as screen 1 was largest screen with 91 seats
Refurbishment complete – Screen 1 is Superscreen, Screen 3 -4DX, Screen 12 – Screen X, Studio Screen s now numbered 13-16 (instead of A-D) + Starbucks in foyer + quick buy screen for snacks
As previous comments said this cinema really has 9 lives…now being converted to Odeon Luxe (reclining seats etc). Screen 1 being refurbished now, Screens 2 & 3 to follow.

looks like screen 1 is open now (other 2 screens now in concersion) £3.00 still (i guess till all screens converted)
£7 for a recliner (£5 Mon-Thurs before 5 is seems)is same (well £6.95) as Vues most expensive seating (non reclining seats)
£3.00 less than showcase luxe at teesside so i think will do well (as not as many seats to fill as it once had once conversion done)
Looks like screen 1 will reopen 15 Nov (as thats when disabled access is back)
Frequented thid when it was a $1 theatre…remember seeing Halloween 6 in Screen 1 all too myself (largest screen I think)
Regular visitor in 95/96 – saw Usual Supects, Goldeneye etc here, especially handy as Tower Records were on the bottom floor
Must still be viable if Odeon spending the cash – Normally loose around 60% of seting so Id thought they would be 160-200 Seats in S1 (just over 500 at present time), and less than 50 in other 2 screens.

Now has a 4DX Screen (Screen 4) + cineworld applied to add new screen i subdivision of gym next door. From plans sounds a big screen (400+ seats)
Refurbishment complete – Screen 1 is Superscreen, Screen 3 -4DX, Screen 12 – Screen X, Studio Screen s now numbered 13-16 (instead of A-D) + Starbucks in foyer + quick buy screen for snacks
