Theatre’s ownership needs to be updated. Cinemark is the proper owner…but the theatre is still branded as a Century (Century is one of the 4 sub-brands under the Cinemark umbrella).

The theatre name is STILL Rave Baldwin Hills Crenshaw 15. Cinemark has kept the “Rave Cinemas” branding and has added said branding to their homepage.

Please change the theatre’s name.

The Vineland is now featuring digital projection on all 4 screens. Needless to say, visibility has improved by leaps and bounds!

Permanently resting inside its concession stand is one of the old film projectors to remind everyone of the “good old days of 35MM!”

@Bigjoe: IMAX has repositioned themselves to have a new release every week. So they’ll be fine.

Saw “Man of Steel” on Saturday 6/15 w/the IMAX 15/70 projector still going strong.

New article on CT’s front page says that they found asbestos causing delays that will, at best, push the opening to Thanksgiving 2013. At worst, sometime in 2014.

Chris Utley commented about AMC Marina Marketplace 6 on May 29, 2013 at 11:53 am

AMC is turning this into a lower-end version of their high-end Dine-In across the street. I read that the plan is to make this one family accessible (the current Dine-In is 21 and over only). The signage says “Coming Summer 2013” but I haven’t heard any hard facts about opening dates from AMC themselves.

He may have been referring to the post-explosion scene as the “replica.”

RogerA: Try typing lacurbed.com and searching for Chinese Theatre.

I REALLY don’t see Disney allowing Thor 2 in IMAX AND at the El Cap at the same darn time. Ditto for Avengers 2…although, for the sake of history, they may make an exception for Star Wars Episode VII

I predict their grand reopening title will be Hunger Games: Catching Fire. It makes no sense to open in September/October. No hot titles (unless you count “Gravity” w/Sandra Bullock & George Clooney set in outer space).

Y'all know doggone well that Disney WILL NOT allow any of their titles to play in any other Hollywood theatre not named El Capitan!

IMAX has pimped themselves so hard through their theatre retrofits that now it’s commonplace to see them bouncing multiple titles through their different theatres. In Cliff’s scenario above, Star Trek may leave Chinese when Fast and Furious 6 opens…but it would most likely continue to play at AMC Universal Citywalk and/or AMC Century 15. The addition to IMAX at Chinese gives IMAX gives them a much bigger playing field to work with: Rave & AMC Century to the west, Chinese & Citywalk to the north, and AMC Burbank to the slightly farther north. With 5 theatres to play with (and we haven’t event talked the suburbs yet), I don’t think booking will be that much of a pain for IMAX!

According to an article I read, the screen specs are 94 feet wide by 46 feet 2 inches tall. DEFINITELY doesn’t sound like a LieMax!

Chris Utley commented about Paramount 1979 release preview on Apr 6, 2013 at 6:28 pm

Regarding your question, it’s commonplace for studios to juggle their release schedules as they see fit. IIRC, American Gigolo didn’t hit theatres till 1980 even though they included it in this trailer. So “Meatballs” could have very well been a last minute addition to their release slate.

They need to revive the M rating. It’ll be the perfect fit for films which push the borderlines of PG-13 but not too intense for R.
