jason; It sound like it was a morning Trade Show or Press Show you attended. These were private, by invitation only and the were held at many cinemas in the West End from the 1940’s into the 1980’s. It was normal to hand out booklets, photos etc. The distributers of “Bugsy Malone” in the UK were Fox-Rank.

porterfaulkner, many thanks for your correction. I have just looked….. and I wrote the date 1984 on the rear of my demolition photographs. The 1981 date I took from Allen Eyles excellent book ‘Gaumont British Theatres’ and I will amend the above opening introduction to this theatre.
The Warner is on the same side of Hollywood Boulevard as Pantages and the Chinese. It is located west of Pantages going towards the Chinese, but not as far west as the Egyptian on the south side of the Boulevard.
Ron, If ever you return, you will see the Kingsway tram tunnel is still there. It is now partly used as a road tunnel, partly used as offices for the Thames flood defence and the entrance at the top of Kingsway (beside Holborn) is still unused and has the cobble road and tram track still in place!
I have a book (somewhere in my attic) which has a nice interior photograph of the Stoll Theatre. It was indeed a splendid theatre, unfortunately gone before I came to live in London.

You drive under the marquee, through the foyer and…..there you are, on an empty space, used as a parking lot!
