This photo is incorrect, as the Super 40 Drive-In was demolished in 1962. The aerial photo shown here is of the Crystal Drive-In, which was on the same road, but further west.
There was a drive-in located at the I-184 interchange with N Curtis Rd. It is visible in 1951 aerial imagery. By 1971, the interchange has taken over the property. Not sure if this was the Boise Drive-In, or another drive-in. Maybe someone here can confirm.
Status is definitely now closed. Extremely unlikely to reopen, as property owner has terminated the lease with the company which operated the drive-in, and has publicly stated that it will not re-open. Ever. Plans have been submitted to redevelop the property for retail.
There were some other drive-ins around Eureka, Westerner Drive-In, Bel-Air Drive-In, and Humboldt Drive-In. One of those could have been the drive-in on the Myrtle Avenue near Lily Lane. Maybe someone local to the area can do some research to clarify.
There was another drive-in about ¾ mile to the west, also on US 80 near Valley Street. I-20 goes over it now. Does anyone know the name of that drive-in?
Probably short for Jonesboro-Hodge Drive-In, the two closest towns which it served.
