Anyone have an update of the status of this Cinema? You get a recording when you call the phone number. It says simply that the theatre is closed for renovations.
Howard, I have relatives outside of Washington DC and not all of the streets are cleared yet. They got 18 inches of snow and the area was not all been cleared yet. They were not prepared for that much snows. They even moved electric repair trucks from as far away as Missouri. Even the Federal Government was closed today. 91/27/16

It was located on Austin Bluffs Highway 80901. Opening features were “The War Wagon” and “The Carpetbaggers. It parked 500 cars. It was operated by Westland Theatres and was demolished in 1985. The site is now apartments

Strange that the Strand would be converted to a Pharmacy. When it was open as a theatre it was next door to Hitings Drug Store.

Looks like the entrance to the building is non E. Washington.

From what I found this opened as the Cherokee Drive-In and was listed as open in 1951.
The Lawco Drive-In was listed as open in 1954.
The Skyline Drive-In was listed as open as early as 1951.
In the motion Picture Yearbooks it is listed as Moonglow. That could be in error though.
Was this drive-in known as the Hi-Land Drive-In prior to the Jolly Roger? If so it was listed as open as early as 1951.
By any chance was this known as the Skylark Drive-In prior to being known as the Valley Drive-In?
