Looking for confirmation that this theatre contains the original Krikorian 6/9-plex and is not a completely new build. (I can’t fathom how it would be… nobody DECIDES to build lopsided theatres like this one).
Did this theatre actually get demolished? I just visited the 13-plex last month and the existing complex (http://cinematreasures.org/theaters/39914) is built in such a way that makes me believe Regal just added four screens and a lobby, renovated the existing screens with stadium seating and called it a day. The 13-plex has a very long hallway leading past three screens (the 7,8,9 expansion?) that leads into a very large square space with restrooms nearby (ie. the original lobby) which then leads into six more screens (the original 1-6).
According to an affidavit filed in the lawsuit UNITED ARTISTS THEATRE CIRCUIT, INC., v. William Powell THOMPSON, Prosecuting Attorney of Sebastian County, State of Arkansas, and Jim Tittle, Sheriff of Sebastian County, State of Arkansas, Defendants.
This theatre’s address is 1400 South “U” Street, Fort Smith, AR
You must mean the Desert Drive In, in Las Vegas. LVDI is way different. Some of the drive-ins they built had way smaller domes than others. The domes in Glendale and Scottsdale were much smaller, and the one in San Jose, though similar doesn’t seem like it was built with as many windows as Stadium appeared to have.
What did the left side of the sign say? I can tell it says AMC [something] 6 Theatres… did it say Orange Mall? So unlike AMC to actually put the name of their theatre on the outside.
I know Syufy built most the drive-ins the same, but the building here looks I-DENT-I-CAL to the Sacramento 6. The Capitol 6 in San Jose doesn’t look as big as either Sac or Stadium.
Weren’t we just reading a deluge of articles last month saying ticket sales were UP?? The media loves to exaggerate the rollercoaster that is US box office.
Does anybody have any data to back up that this was a GCC theatre? On some of the documents recently posted to the GCC Memories FB group, this theatre is not listed as one of theirs.

I haven’t heard anything about Regal acquiring GTC. Unless they know something the rest of the theatre biz doesn’t know yet.
Looks like this theatre was replaced by a new build. Carmike 12 at 2550 E. Morris.
I’ve actually found data elsewhere that suggests that Regal opened this theatre and Century acquired it less than two months afterwards.

From the photos I’ve seen it looks like they used “UA the Movies” signage. Was this originally a UA theatre?
Syufy/Century operated it for a bit after Mann pulled out.
That’s right — was never been — I talk good.
Judging by other photos I’ve seen of this — it was never been Carmike. Looks like a fresh Cinemark build.

I’m not one to usually say this about multi-plexes, but this one ACTUALLY looks like a Kohl’s if you take the marquee down.
My understanding is that the single screen WOULD be kept intact and a complex built next door.
Was this theatre an entirely new build or did it make use of one of the existing cinemas?
Was this theatre the one that was built by General Cinema in 1981? Or perhaps the Ingram Square 8 was built off the GCC?
Some records I have from General Cinema show they stopped running this on June 10, 1982. Is it possible somebody else took it over?
General Cinema operated this until November 20, 1986.
An internal document from GCC puts the opening date of this theatre as 5/20/1983
The theatre is not demolished.
I don’t think Mann ever operated this one — they operated the Oracle View nearby.
The address was 14505 NE 20th St
