Opened as a six-screen mall-multiplex in September 1960. This is a curiously shaped facility, no-doubt driven by the complex mall design. It is more-or less a shot-gun arrangement with six substantial auditoria on one side of the under-projection-booth corridor. Three smaller auditoria were added on the other side in 1994. The lobby is at one end and on-axis rather than in the middle or dog-legged as is much more common. Projection and sound were good on my recent visit: the hall clean and well kept, but archtecturally, forgettable.

It was closed around 2006-2007 and was replaced by a 12-screen theatre built in the mall parking lot.

@ Scott. Yes, this theater was replaced by a new building. The original Carmike 9 inside the mall closed around 2006-2007 and was replaced by a new building that was built in the parking lot. The description above is accurate to the old building. However, it originally opened as 6 screens in September of 1990, and in 1994 three additional screens (on the opposite side) were built.
