The Masters Four Cinemas opened February 20, 1976 and was the first four-plex in Augusta. Later, four more screens were added. Just a typical theatre, nothing special about it.
Last operated by the Georgia Theatre Company, it was closed on March 17, 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It was reopened on September 25, 2020 only to close on November 5, 2020. On February 19, 2020 it was announced the closure would be permanent.

THERE is a MASTERS 4 page some one here locally has put on FACEBOOK..
My boyfriend and I went to the Regal the other day and we were talking to guy at the concession stand about the Masters and he said that Regal Entertainment bought out Georgia Theatre Comapany recently and they are in the prcoess of switching their theaters to Regal. He also said that the Masters wont be open much longer because they dont pull in enough money to justify keeping it open…meanwhile the prices at the Evans will be raising to Regal prices…This really saddened us. I hope they do decide to keep this place open. You cant beat a $2.50 movie and they have such yummy popcorn too. It’d be a shame to see it go…
Breaking ground on the 14 plex, MASTERS 7 days probably numbered, sad, Pity REGAL is running it.
I haven’t heard anything about Regal acquiring GTC. Unless they know something the rest of the theatre biz doesn’t know yet.
I got the news from a source in Atlanta. who knows…
Still going… I’ve been a few times in the last two months; always in the middle of the week and always a decent sized crowd. I hope it hangs in there. Clean auditoriums. Friendly staff. Good concessions.
The four pplex opened on February 20, 1976
Sad news, it looks like the Augusta NATIONAL has bought the land the shopping center is setting on.MASTERS CINEMAS days are numbered..

Georgia Theater Company (GTC) Circuit closed its sub-run discount house, the Masters Cinemas 7, along with its other locations on March 17, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Masters was one of the few discount theaters to reopen in the United States during the pandemic when it opened September 25, 2020. Just five weeks later, the theatre closed November 5, 2020 citing a lack of films. GTC made the closure permanent in an announcement on February 19, 2021 with the lease turned back to the property owner.
