One interesting thing about this theater, although it is listed by Krikorian as a 15 plex, it actually is only a 14 plex. A large format screen that was supposed to be auditorium 1 was never built. If you look at the overhead view you can see the empty lot that was supposed to be the missing auditorium. Theaters are numbered 2-15. Inside you can see the wall where the theater entrance was supposed to be.
That is actually a picture of the former Rolling Hills Theater which has a separate entry. As mentioned above by twintermute, the 20day plex is behind this former theater.
This theater will be closing on Aug 14th. It will be renovated into a luxury cinema ran by Cinepolis who recently opened their first US theater in Del Mar.
The time is almost up on this place. The shopping center is going to undergo a remodel and not in the plans are the ua6. It may be almost 40 years old but its end is near.
Those pictures made me cringe. I recognize theater 1 and the hallway leading from the stairs, the area where the old second stand used to be, and I think one is the lobby hall over by theaters 5-6-7 and that area where the booth came around the tall ceiling. I want to go just check out the store to see how much of the cinema still remains..
Also there is an article on how the theater is in the process of being gutted. TOBY KEITHS restaurant chain is opening a location in 30,000 sq feet of the building.
Due to declining business, AMC has apparently closed one wing of the the theater and currently running it as a 17 plex. No plans on what they plan to do with the closed wing. This theater has suffered attendance decline since AMC opened their Glendora 12 a few miles away.
Does anyone know if the theaters have been demolished or are still there. I visited this location a few years back and it still was there but hidden in the back of the center.

From the looks of it, Pacific is still running it for the rest of the week. Regency takes over Friday.
Getting pictures may require two trips to this theater since two auditoriums are in a seperate building across from the orginal 8.
For the record they had a former IMAX screen they needed to fill… they went this route.
They are also not charging extra for the upgraded auditorium .. something other chains should follow suit doing.
