    Theater needed in New York

    Dear All,

I’m looking to purchase a theater in New York in the next month or so to be used for the performing arts. If you have any information on where I should begin my search or specific theatres to look at, please let me know. Thanks so much!

Theater organ records available - what now?!

As part of the disbursement of an extensive theater collection, I have acquired about 100 to 125 record albums of various theater organs around the country. Could anyone PLEASE give me some direction on how to disburse these albums? They may have more “value” to a collector for the cover art. Should I try posting them on eBay? Is there any common posting place where I could invite those interested to email me for a list of available albums? HELP!

Many thanks to anyone who has suggestions.

    Former Cannon Cinema, Stockport

I am researching the Cannon Cinema which was demolished in mid 90’s. Originally built in 1936 as Carlton Cinema & acquired in 1948 by Essoldo Group. Designed by architects Drury & Gomersall of Manchester. Any external photos or building plans would be most helpful.

    Many thanks in anticipation

Looking for vintage seat end piece

Hello. I’m not sure if you can help me or not, but I figured I might try here.

I just bought 6 vintage seats that I would like to restore for my home theater. Unfortunately it only came with 3 end pieces, and I’d like to get a 4th. The only markings I can find are LEV a model number 12-119 and either a L or R indicating I believe which side it is for.

They are red with a wood arm rest and have lights in them.

    I’ve put pictures up:

Please contact me via email at .

    Thanks

    Theater financing issues

    Hello Everyone!

I am hoping someone can help us out. We have purchased the Palace Theater in Colorado City, Texas. We have ran into a HUGE road block. Currently we have completed the projection room, audio, seats and are waiting for the screen. However, we are out of money and are hoping anyone has any information on how we can get some information on grants or any donations will be helpful.

We are still needing concession items, especially the popcorn machine and also need to update the lobby, bathrooms, and outside of theater which includes the marquee and the palace sign. We have also come across to some water leaks. Please help us by letting us know if there are any grants available or where we can start in getting some type of financial assistance.

    Thanks,
    Bea & Marcus Monroe

Theater seat totals: Which trade book lists them?

Looked at past editions of Film Daily Yearbook in the Fort Lee, NJ library and didn’t see the seat totals listed for individual theaters nationwide which I had thought they published. But they do list each theater chain and theaters by state.

Or maybe, were they listed in the International Motion Picture Almanac? I am looking for several theater seat totals from the early 1970’s which are not listed on this site.

Which books should I check please?

    Thank You Much.

Can anyone tell me what band was playing at the Paramount in Times Square on 12/07/1941?

    Also, what movie was playing?

    Piano/organ accompanists for silent films

Are there archival records of piano/organ accompanists for silent films shown at theaters? Of particular interest is information of such records for Palace Theatre in Columbus, Ohio.

    Renovators sought for Town Theater

HILLSBORO, OR — With so many towns leading the charge around the country, Hillsboro is looking to follow suit and revive its classic movie house, The Town Theater.

The Town Theater, the vintage movie theater on Hillsboro’s historic Main Street, has been largely vacant since the City of Hillsboro acquired it several years ago.

Now, with downtown in the midst of a renaissance, the city wants the classic old theater to be a centerpiece for its downtown revitalization efforts by becoming, once again, an active entertainment venue.

By issuing a request for expressions of interest, the city seeks teams to rehabilitate and operate the Town. The city has no specific program in mind for the building, and replacing the building with a new structure is an option if rehabilitation proves unfeasible.
