Miami Planetarium needs American Seating parts
We’ve been in constant operation since 1966 with thousands of kids coming through every summer. We are in need of parts to repair our old seats and cant seem to find them. Some parts have been successfully welded but its not always the case.
We have American Seating model 16-306 planetarium seats (the back rest can be bolted down in a reclining position). We are looking for model 16-10? standards and endcaps. Color is not important as we can paint to match.
Pictures of our seats can be provided on request if it will help.

Cinema Park Drive In Phoenix, Arizona
I recently acquired a 1948 Crosley pickup truck that was made into a fire truck and served as a playground attraction at the Cinema Park Drive In theater at 7 ST. and Missourri in Phoenix, Arizona until it’s close in 1974 or 1975.
I would very much like to find an old photo or some history of it or the theater. I have checked the archives at the Phoenix library to no avail. Does anyone out there have any old photos stashed away?
Thank you, whizzer

Help needed to rent/lease theatres to screen movies
I am looking to screen the movies I am distributing in the movie theatres in Houston. I am new to this world and don’t know how to approach the theatres like AMC, Cinemark or any other theatres. I tried to contact corporate office but am not getting good responses.
I am not sure how much they charge. Can any one help in this regard?

Mystery theatre?
I’m attempting to research the history of an old building which, in a 1920 Los Angeles census was mentioned as being connected to the silent movie industry. In recent decades it was a bar however from the looks of the facade it could have been an early silent theatre. The building was constructed in 1914, and the address is 3037 Sunset (or W. Sunset), in the Silver Lake area.
Someone here looked in the archives of the L.A. Times to no avail but that was before I found the date of construction. I also asked someone at the L.A. Conservancy but they didn’t know. Thoughts?

Dual projectors versus platter
For a single screen theatre, what are the views on losing one machine and going to the platter system? Providing, of course, that the 2 existing machines are combined in to one really reliable machine….Thanks!

Lighting Dimmers needed for Strand
SANTA ANA, CA — On behalf of Joseph Musil’s magnificent little Strand Theatre located in the American Museum of Theatrical Design, Santa Ana, CA, I am appealing for help needed with our stage lighting system.
We use household dimmers which are constantly burning out due to the fact that they are old, overloaded, overworked and overheat. To say the least; NOT SAFE period!
Urgently needed is a 24-pack, 110 volt system. These will be fed from a series of 12 circuit breakers supplying a total of 1,000 amps of power.

Author Seeks Info RE: 1977 theater operation
I am currently working on a young adult novel set in the summer of 1977. The book is not under contract, but an editor at a major publishing house has asked me to submit the manuscript directly to her upon completion. Problem is I’m having trouble finishing the project due to my complete ignorance of movie theater management in 1977. I bought the book Cinema Treasures (which I enjoyed), but it didn’t really provide the kind of information I need. Help?!?!
My teenage protagonist is part of a group of misfits working at a beautiful but decaying historic theater located in a small town in Ohio. I’m trying to capture the magical “lost era” ambiance of one of these theaters….especially in 1977 when everything was….well, so 70’s! The theater is not just a setting for my story. It’s really one of my characters. As such, the daily operations, maintenance nightmares, financial troubles and the protagonist’s efforts to save the theater from being “twinned” (or, worse, sold to a sleazy investor with plans to show porno movies) are all central to my plot (as is the only movie they show for most of the summer - Star Wars).
