Rare 35mm prints at the 26th Olympia Film Festival
OLYMPIA, WA — The 26th Olympia Film Festival at the historic 772-seat single-screen Capitol Theater begins Friday Nov. 6 with the unreleased-on-video 35mm feature “Nothing Lasts Forever”, starring Zach Galligan and Bill Murray. Other 35mm prints of unreleased-on-video films include Ken Russell’s “The Devils” in a rarely screened LPP print, Paul Newman’s adaptation of Ken Kesey’s “Sometimes a Great Notion”, the 1933 “Alice in Wonderland” starring Cary Grant, Gary Cooper, and W.C. Fields, and the 1932 Charles Laughton / Bela Lugosi classic “Island of Lost Souls”.
A 3-D print of Andy Warhol’s “Frankenstein” will be introduced by star Udo Kier and we also celebrate the 20th anniversary of All Freakin' Night with an all-35mm print extravaganza featuring “Starchaser: The Legend of Orin in 3-D”, “Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2”, “Rolling Thunder”, “Street Trash”, and “A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2”. Silent movies return to Seattle’s Paramount
SEATTLE, WA — Silent movies will be screened at Seattle’s Paramount Theater on three successive Mondays in November, including the 1916 version of “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” on 11/2,“The Adventures of Prince Achmed,"a 1926 film from Germany, claimed to be the oldest surviving feature length animated film on 11/9, and, on 11/16, the 1925 version of "The Lost World.” Jim Riggs will be playing the theater’s mighty Wurlitzer at all performances.

Halloween Zombie Walk and Movie “Night of the Living Dead” at Norwalk Main Street Theatre
NORWALK, OH — Join us Saturday October 31st as the Norwalk Main Street Theatre, 57 E. Main, Norwalk, OH will be hosting a “Zombie Walk.” Come dressed as your favorite Zombie!
We will meet at the theatre at 8:00 p.m. on Halloween and start the walk down Main Street at 8:30 p.m. (on the sidewalk) and walk 3 blocks and come back on the other side of the street back to the theatre where we will watch the classic Zombie movie that started it all: the 1968 Black and White version of “Night of the Living Dead.” The movie is not rated.
The cost is $3.00 for just the walk, $3.00 for just the movie or $5.00 for both the walk and the movie. The movie will start at 9:30 p.m. Everyone MUST check-in at the theatre and purchase a ticket to participate in the walk.

2010 Newport Beach Film Festival call for entries
Celebrating its 11th year, the Newport Beach Film Festival is open for submissions. Take advantage of our Early Bird Deadline and save.
The 2010 Newport Beach Film Festival will spotlight over 350 films from around the world, including feature length narrative, documentary, short, animated and student films that will compete for a series of Jury, Festival Honors and Audience Awards. The 2010 NBFF will host red carpet Opening and Closing Night Gala Celebrations, International Spotlight events, an Action Sports Film Series, an Environmental Film Series, a Family Film Series, a Collegiate Showcase, a Youth Film Showcase and a free Seminar Series.
The Festival runs from April 22nd to April 29th, 2010.

“Funny Girl” to play in Charleston
CHARLESON, SC — Rare 35 mm print of “Funny Girl” to play at Charleston’s Luxury theater!
The Terrace Hippodrome is proud to announce a special 5 day showing of the 1968 classic “Funny Girl”. Barbra Streisand stars in one of the last great musicals of its time. “Funny Girl” will open this Friday October 23rd and play till Tuesday October 27th.
The Terrace Hippodrome Wide screen is Charleston premiere movie venue with 450 BMW leather seats and true digital sound. The Hippodrome boasts South Carolina’s largest movie screen. St. George Theatre to host Halloween Extravaganza
STATEN ISLAND, NY — For one night only, the historic St. George Theatre will be letting its ghosts loose as it hosts its first ever halloween Extravaganza on October 30th!
The 1929 Spanish-Italian baroque theatre will be turning back the clock to Halloween night 1930 and the spirits of the guests and employees that were present that fateful night will be returning. Zombies and ghosts will be roaming the grand staircases and the dimly lit, cobweb filled lobby. Also making an appearance will be members of the VonTiderman family who resided in the Gothic mansion that once occupied the property where the theatre now stands.
This is your one chance to see this architectural wonder as you never have before; will you dare to join us? Appearing on the great stage will be the award winning Broadway-style magic show “SPOOKTACULAR”, starring Wacky Dracky.

A Look at Baltimore’s Historic Theaters
Baltimore’s nearly 150 theaters spanned a wide range of sizes, architectural styles, and audiences. Many are no longer standing, some have been renovated and adaptively reused, and a few are still operating as theaters. Please join us for a talk by Mr. Wally Coberg, an award winning designer and filmmaker by trade and an avid Baltimore theater researcher by inclination, as he discusses the city’s historic theaters, their history and their future.
