Expect this luxury cinema to open in Indian Land on March 23, 2018. Stone Theatres is putting the finishing touches on its 55,400-square-foot, 14-screen movie theater. It is the anchor tenant in MPV Properties' RedStone Development. That 40-acre retail development is located at the intersection of S.C. Highway 160 and U.S. Highway 521 in northern Lancaster County, just across the state line from Charlotte.

The shopping center was an attractive choice with its location just over the S.C. border and prime position along Highway 521. That market was underserved by existing theaters, says Herman Stone, president and CEO. “We are a family-run and -operated company, and to provide this level of entertainment in a first-class facility in our own backyard gives us a great sense of pride,” he says. Stone Theatres is headquartered in Charlotte. The privately held regional chain operates five theaters.

Features of the RedStone theater include a large-format auditorium designed to offer a full-immersive movie experience. It utilizes 4K laser projection for sharp viewing, has a Dolby ATMOS sound system in addition to luxury club seating. The 13 remaining auditoriums boast the most current digital projection technology and 7.1 surround sound. They also have 3D capability.

The theater’s concessions will include Pizzeria Uno, Eisenberg all-beef hot dogs, pretzels, nachos, White Castle burgers and chicken fingers. Stone Theater provides a number of programs to serve guests. Options include sensory-friendly programming and discount Tuesdays, where films are $5 throughout the day and $6 after 6 p.m. A summer movie program offers films for $1 with discounted concessions. “We want our guests to feel like family when they attend a movie. Our programs and features are driven by the needs of the community,” Stone says.
