Hall Cinema

Located in Castlecomer, County Kilkenny. Films were screened in the Parochial Hall, perhaps twice-weekly, from about 1928 and by 1937 it had been renamed Hall Cinema. It had 350-seats and was equipped initially with an AWH sound system but later Philips and GB-Kalee. It had a 16ft wide proscenium. It was closed in 1958 when the Deen Cinema opened (it has its own page on Cinema Treasures)

Silent films are known to have been shown earlier in the town by P. Hoyne who used part of his garage for the purpose.
