Located in Castlecomer, County Kilkenny. Construction of the Deen Cinema began in September 1957 and it was opened on 6th April 1958. Seating was for 200 in the balcony, 160 in the parterre with a further 80 in the pit. It was designed to allow for shows and even held boxing bouts in the late-1960’s. The sound was provided by a GB-Kalee system and the house was equipped to screen CinemaScope films. The business was a venture by the Quinn, Fogarty and McKenna families who had previously organised films in the town, but was on the market in the late-1960’s. It was shut during the summer of 1971 but reopened for the winter, although by 1973 it had become a home furnishing store. The property is now occupied by an auctioneer’s business.
