This theater opened with separate Box Office booth’s inside the vestibule but a later renovation by Carmike removed the box office and customer service desk and combined them with the Concession stand. The old external box office shells were converted to flat windows with signs telling guests where to buy tickets.
Since it’s an AMC now, expect renovations to make it more like an AMC and less a Carmike.
Visited yesterday and it is unchanged from the Carmike days with the exception of some AMC logo stuff posted here and there(with plenty of Carmike still visible). Nothing special except dim projection. In desperate need of renovation, but I don’t expect to see AMC dump much in to it. Terrible location, the boys from Columbus must have agreed to the location from looking at a picture! Wish the Newvisions had not been sold out…
a lot of the former carmikes seem to be delayed in getting upgraded beyond the flexible signs.
Rstewart I agree if they have to pick one to renovate first the Allentown 16 should be the first to get gutted and refit to the “AMC amazing” spec. Center Valley is in better shape just due to it not being an carmike by build.
True, Center Valley is much nicer. Carmike certainly built a bunch along the lines of the Allentown location all over the country. I think that was a holdover from the Martin days, when they were Martin they had the same twin floor plan all over the south. I was never a huge AMC fan but Carmike really slipped into a “build it then run it into the ground” kind of operation.
AMC has the advantage of actually working on full theater rehabilitation currently. New vision is basically the Carmike management who didn’t move to AMC restarting digiplex. Regal only seems to be doing single auditorium remodels to add RPX to locations.
The theater got it’s new door decals' up and more of the Carmike signage has been removed. The road side sign has the playing films no longer posted on it just a notice to check AMC theaters website for show times. I expect that once the new AMC neon arrives it will get replaced by a AMC logo with the golden circles background.
AMC has re-branded this location as the AMC CLASSIC Allentown 16 https://www.amctheatres.com/movie-theatres/philadelphia/amc-classic-allentown-16
new pictures up of the theater the signs have been updated to AMC Neon
