Located near the southern tip of the North Island in Lower Hutt. Replacing the King George Theatre (it has its own page on Cinema Treasures) and located on the same site on top of a shopping centre. The 950-seat Odeon Theatre was opened by Kerridge-Odeon in 1975 with Richard Chamberlain in “The Slipper and the Rose:The Story of Cinderella”.
It became Hoyts Lower Hutt from 16th March 1993. It later expanded to 5-screens. It was closed on 6th February 2008.
The cinema building became the new home of the Lower Hutt Baptist Church(now called Hutt City Baptist Church). In 2019 three of the screens reopened as Hutt Pop-Up by Reading Cinemas.
