The Starlite Drive-In was opened June 28, 1956 by the Schnee brothers who also owned the Hollywood Theater and the Vogue Theater, both indoor theaters. They ran all the theaters until they were sold to the Lutz family in 1976.
By this time the Vogue Theater was closed. The Starlite Drive-In was closed after the 1981 season and sat empty and decaying until it was sold in 1998 to a Minneapolis man who reopened it in the middle of that summer.
Since then, it has re-opened while restoration has been slowly progressing and 3 more screens have popped up on the property, making it now a 4 screen drive-in.

Very common name for a drive-in,thanks for the photos.

Above address is incorrect. The address for this drive-in was 28334 Minnesota 22. THIS POINTS DIRECTLY TO THE DRIVE-IN ENTRANCE…
According to their website the address is 28264 Minnesota hwy 22 so the address in the header is correct. Also on their website they only show four screens.

An August 2015 article in Willmar’s West Central Tribune said Tim Eiler was the guy who bought the Starlite in 1997. He was up to five screens in 2015 when he sold the place to David Quincer, who owns the Cozy Theater, a vintage indoor cinema in Wadena.
As of June 2017, the Starlite has only two active screens and is open Friday-Sunday.
