Hollywood...Litchfield Minnesota

The 1936 Hollywood Theater in downtown Litchfield is a beautiful example of the Art Deco style. (In fact, it is featured in Davis Cone’s book, "Popcorn Palaces".)

The Hollywood’s marquee is its real star feature. The vertical marquee soars over the top of the facade, spelling out the theater’s name in chunky, stylized Art Deco lettering. The color scheme of the marquee is red and gold, with white lettering, and is continued downwards framing the entry to the theater.

In 1995, the Hollywood changed ownership for only the third time in its history, and received its only major remodeling since opening. At this time, the auditorium was twinned. It has since been tripled.

The Hollywood is now the only remaining movie theater in Meeker County.

I would like to know the owners name so I can talk to him about restoring a theater. Thanks for your help.

Saw my first movie at the Hollywood, before it was twinned. It’s too bad they slice up these beautiful theaters
