The Strand Theatre was opened for the Saenger Amusement Company on February 4, 1921. It replaced an earlier Strand Theatre. The Strand Theatre was equipped with a theatre pipe organ. It was given a new Art Deco style marquee in the 1930’s, replacing its original more simple one.
The Strand Theatre was closed in 1966 and was demolished in the late-1970’s.

**correction….the Strand and the Arabian were actually two different theatres….they were just a couple blocks apart
**the Arabian opened in 1927 and the two were in competition for just a couple years before the owners of the Arabian bought the Strand as well
**the Strand was demolished in the late 1970s, the Arabian is now the home for the local community group Laurel Little Theatre
The Strand was part of the Royal Theaters circuit in the early 1960s. President was A.L. Royal.
