The shooting actually happened during “Walking Tall Part 2”, not the first one, because the first Walking Tall did ran there for a week during the last week of October 1973.

The Melroy Theatre was once destroyed by a fire on March 26, 1956, caused by a short circuit estimating a loss of $75,000. At the time, Leroy McIntosh was still its operator.

Theater is not demolished, at least not as of the Jan. ‘16 streetview pass. Address would be somewhere between 317 and 403 Front St. It looks like the numbers change in the middle of the block. Front is covered with ugly sheet metal, and the street level with plywood, but it is occupied, and a marquee is still present.

PLEASE ADD ZIP CODE:

39168

For some reason, without a ZIP CODE Google Maps locates the town no where nears it’s correct location??

Need an address, more info and photos.

The above incident happened in 1973.I guess the theatres stayed closed until the article in Boxoffice in 1975.

I can’t believe small town politics. Can’t say that anything has really changed. It wasn’t like Mr.McIntosh was running X -rated movies.
