News About This Theater
- Mar 4, 2009 — 5th Todd A0 festival st the Schauburg Cinema
This older theatre, currently the oldest operating cinema in Karlsruhe, re-opened as the Schauburg Cinerama Theatre in September 1968 with "2001: A Space Odyssey". The new curved screen, which was 17 metres wide, was installed in front of the original proscenium opening, and the projection booth was relocated from the rear balcony, to a new booth installed in the rear orchestra level.
Today, the main Cinerama Theatre screens first run movies, and has special 70mm events. There is a screen named ‘Cinema’ which I believe is located in the former balcony, and a small screen named ‘Bambi’.
