The Lighthouse Centre for the Arts contains a 669 seat theatre, a 1,500 seat concert hall, a 150 seat studio theatre and a 105 seat cinema. There is also a large gallery for photography and a restaurant and it is the largest Centre for the Arts in England outside London.
Programming in the cinema is for first run films, independent and foreign films and classic films.
Opened in 1971, it was closed for a major re-furbishment in May 2002, re-opening in Summer 2002.

The projector used at the Lighthouse Cinema is a Westar 2000, which was reconditioned when the old Poole Arts Cinema closed (this area of the building is now occupied by a gallery) for use in the new cinema.
