Poole Electric Theatre

In Poole, Dorset, James Bravery, managing director of Popular Bioscope Syndicates Ltd., opened Poole Electric Theatre in 1911.

The cinema occupied a former chapel “near the tram terminus”, according to advertisements. The first programme included the film “Flying a Day”.

The Poole Electric Theatre continued to operate until the Regent Cinema (see separate Cinema Treasures entry) was nearing completion. It closed on 30th October 1926 with “The Fighting Edge”, starring Kenneth Harlan and Patsy Ruth Miller. (The Regent Cinema opened in the December.)

The building was demolished in 1927. The site has been lost to redevelopment, but is thought to be roughly where Falkland Square is today.
