This was Hialeah’s first theatre. It was a neighborhood movie house located at Palm Avenue and E. Eighth Street. The theatre apparently had a stage because at one point there were talent contests. By 1941 it was operated by Paramount pictures Inc. through their subsidiary S.A. Lynch.
The Hialeah Theatre was the entertainment for the town. It was built circa 1925. It is listed as ‘closed’ in the 1943 and 1945 Film Daily Yearbooks, but reopened later. In 1950 the theatre doubled as an episcopal church. Services were held on Sunday mornings. By 1952 it was operated by the Claughton Theaters chain.

The first mention I found of this theatre in the Miami Herald was in 1934.

Found an ad for the Aladdin Twin Cinema that has an address of 799 Palm Avenue. The Hialeah was a twin in its later days?

Interesting find, Harvey. I don’t remember, but apparently it was the case, even if short lived. Opa-Locka was always Aladdin’s historic turf so I guess this was close enough.

The 1975 Miami News lists a Windsor Theatre. Does anyone know where that might have been?
it eventually was closed down and turned into a church because there really wasnt any people traffic to it, since u had both the essex and circle theaters closeby. also, it was located on the corner of a one-way traffic route.

There is more history to this building. It was originally built as a 1920’s movie studio as you can see from the classic shape! Hialeah almost became Hollywood in the 1920’s, but the 1926 Miami Hurricane blew away that dream. My 91yo Dad lived in Hialeah during the mid-1930’s and there were still three 1920’s movie studios, two were abandoned and one was converted to the Hialeah Theatre. Today the original movie studio is now a church. I wish a historical preservation society would acknowledge this unique building in Hialeah history!
