The Loews Richmond Town Square 20 was opened on January 14, 2000, replacing the older eight-screen Loews East that was situated in another location in the same mall. (The Loews East had closed on January 28, 1999 and has its own page on Cinema Treasures). The theater became part of AMC Theatres after the circuit’s acquisition of Loews Cineplex.
In November 2007, the theater became part of the Regal Cinemas circuit and was renamed Richmond Town Square Stadium 20. It was closed on January 6, 2022 and demolished in September 2023.

The signage on the building and the pylons have been changed to Regal Cinemas Stadium 20.
Regal has closed the 10 screen theatre at Eastgate, apparently replacing it with this theatre. But the mystery remains: why did amc/Loews unload it?
This opened with the mall in 1966 as Loew’s East. It was attached to a mall entrance shared with a Kroger super market. I believe it either had one or three screens when it opened.
Actually, this is an entirely different theater than Loews East, which has a separate entry here on CT. Loews East opened as a single screen theater in 1966, was later twinned, and ended its life as an eight-plex. It occupied a somewhat different area of the mall than this theater and there was a gap between the closing/demolition of Loews East and the construction of this theater.
One of the reasons that Loews/AMC unloaded these may have been due to the changing demographics of the area. Most of the major chains in that mall have long since disappeared and there are many urban style stores located there now. Heck, the last time I went there, several years back, there were THREE consecutive sneaker stores one right after the other. I think Sears is the last major tenant there and that is closing this year, or may have already closed.
Regal Richmond Town Square permanently closed on January 6, 2022. The building will be demolished as the entire former mall property is redeveloped into the Belle Oaks Marketplace.

This theatre was actually opened up as a Magic Johnson Theatre. At the time Lowes managed the Magic Johnson Theatres. Then when Lowes was taken sold to AMC they managed the theatre. When Magic Johnson had AMC closed this theatre both Magic Johnson Theatres and AMC Theatres were sued by the mall. Then Magic Johnson counter sued the mall. The mall sued because the theatre was closing and not holding up to lease terms. Magic Johnson sued saying they had a right to close because in the lease term they held the right to close if occupancy at the mall fell below 50%. MJT said they actually let occupancy fall below 48%. In the end MJT found another company (Regal) to come as their Eastgate location was on a closure or sell off list. Regal thought this was an opportunity to actually add my screens to the market.
Needs an update in the description above and also to be placed in the demolished category that it was demolished in Sept 2023 to make way for the Belle Oaks project.
This location was never a Magic Johnson location. The Magic Johnson location mentioned above was the Randall Park location that opened about the same time.
Opened January 14th, 2000 with an $1 preopening on the 12th and the 13th. Grand opening ad posted.
