Saenger Theatre

The Saenger Theatre was opened October 30, 1915. By 1941 it was operated by Paramount Pictures Inc. through their subsidiary E.V. Richards. It was closed June 30, 1950 with “The Hills of Oklahmoma”. It was converted into an extension of Schwartzberg’s Department Store.

This opened on October 30th, 1915. Grand opening ad in photo section.

rivest, you uploaded a photo of the Paramount in Alexandria on CT. You may not be aware of it but the Saenger was next door to the left. You can barely see the marquee. So, since you have the photo, please upload it on this site, too.

The Saenger closed June 30, 1950 playing “The Hills of Oklahoma” and was sold to Schwartzberg’s Department Store on July 12, 1950 which modified the theatre to expand its retail operation.
