Located adjacent to the Princess Theatre(it has its own page on Cinema Treasures), the Morgan Theatre was opened on September 4, 1936 with Bing Crosby in “Rhythm on the Range” & Our Gang in “Pinch Singer”. It was still open in 1978.
It is now named Court Street Building and has been given a new facade.

Mid `60s Vintage Kodachrome Slide added credit Martin Plucinski. Narrowed down as Morganfield’s Morgan Theatre based on P'Pools Auto Supply which was another Morganfield business. Presumably located on Morgan Street, but a lot has been cleared away over the years.
The Morgan Theatre, 122 N. Court St., was built in 1936 by the Alhorn family. It was adjacent to the Princess Theatre, which was open as early as 1915 and later housed P’Pool’s Auto Supply. Both of these buildings are still standing. This information is included in my book, “Morganfield Businesses 1811 – 1969.”
Opened Sep. 4, 1936 with “Rhythm on the Range” supported by “Our Gang” in “Pinch Singer” and the Haman-Ising animated short, “Bottles.” Appears to have been architected by Johnson & Maack. William Earl Horsefield closed the Princess moving here. Its continuous service ended on March 5, 1978 with “Airport ‘77” although it did have some free and charity shows mixed in during 1978.
