Opened as a single screen later converted to a twin by B & B Theatres. Located on E. Main Street at Santa Fe Avenue. First run features. I could find no time line or seating capacity on the Chanute.
The Chanute Cinema I & II was closed by B & B Theatres in 2008.

Listed in the 1950 edition of Film Daily Yearbook as the Peoples Theatre with a seating capacity of 888.
Earlier entries in F.D.Y. editions for 1941 and 1943 list it as the Peoples Theatre with a seating capacity of 992.
According to this site the Chanute Cinema was demolished in 2006 to make way for the new multiplex. Scroll down about four pages for photos of the demolition.
