Its a real gem, or was in the not so distant past. I don’t know much about this theatre, but I know it was built in 1925 and had a seating capacity of 946. It still has its original marquee hanging outside, but it has been heavily modernized.
The interior still maintains some of the original charm: there is a lounge to every bathroom, the lobby has marble all over it, and the plaster molding on the ceilings are still somewhat intact. It originally a single auditorium, but since December 18, 1981 it was divided into three, and later another screen was added. It still maintains its stand alone box office outside.
If you can look past all the horrible modernization, you can tell this was once a truly beautiful little theatre. In recent years it was operated by Clearview Cinemas, and in June 2013, Bow-Tie Cinemas took over, as they took most Clearview locations. It was closed in 2017.

No mention of the theatre in this article but you can see the marquee in the top photo. I’m glad they are considering revitalizing this street. It is not vibrant like the rest of the town is.

Very sad to see the theater closed great theater. Wish it was still around. Does anyone know what were the last movies playing when they closed?
