Really, as the man who built the SouthGlen, I’d rather the original name SouthGlen 12. The reason the “Glen” got started is this; My grandfather built the Glenwood and it was a name that carried QUALITY. In an effort to carry on the tradition I suggested the use of GLEN in the theatre’s name with the idea there would be an East, West, etc. My name is Glen Wood Dickinson III. My dad was Jr. and grandfather Sr. Hence, “Glenwood.”
This theatre was named after Carlton Dickinson brother to Glen Dickinson Jr. He was killed in a car accident before the theatre was built.
I loved this theatre. I was so sad the new owners of Dickinson Theatres couldn’t keep up my standards.

By the way I took this photo!

Yes. The old Overland Theatre renamed the Kimo South. My first theatre manager job.
This was built by Glen Sr. and opened in 1938. I spent many a Saturday afternoon at the old Dickinson.
Glen III
Glass block was my grandfather’s first love. That’s why I revived it at theatres like the SouthGlen & Northrock 14.
Who built this drive-in?
