The Carlton Theatre was opened by Dickinson Theatres on August 30, 1938 with Martha Raye in “Give Me a Sailor”. Seating was provided for 750 in the orchestra level and 100 in the balcony. In 1941 it was listed as (Closed), but had re-opened by 1943. The Carlton Theatre was still open in 1950 and operated by Dickinson Theatres. It was then taken over by Mid-Central Theatres and was renamed Co-Ed Theatre, closing in 1958. It was demolished in the late-2000’s-early-2010’s.

In the 50’s and 60’s, the theater was known as the Co-Ed. I often attended the Co-Ed Theater as a young boy and teenager.
This theatre was named after Carlton Dickinson brother to Glen Dickinson Jr. He was killed in a car accident before the theatre was built.
Opened on September 1st, 1938 as the Carlton. Grand opening ad in the photo section.
