According to the get reel website, this theatre is now under new ownership. I’m pretty sure they defaulted on their loan, someone else is looking to buy it. I don’t know how this theatre could possibly make any money. It cost over 2 million, and I’ve never seen more than 20 people in any movie ever…
Isn’t that previous post old information? I think (see above link) the childrens museum already sold it in 2006 to someone, who in turn sold it to someone else for almost triple what they paid the museum. PS-Lost Memory I love all your theatre pictures…
Its kind of funny, when I managed for Marcus, we had screenings in the basement theatre screening room here. I thought that was pretty cool at the time. I don’t even remember going inside this theatre though. I wonder if I did? The pictures make it appear very grand. Due to its size, parking issues, etc, I doubt it will ever be a movie theatre again. How sad, its beautiful.
This is one of the theatres that was owned by Otto Setelle. I’m pretty sure I spelled his last name wrong. I met him in the late 90’s and he died a short time after that. Paul Rogers bought that theatre, which was a twin and added additional screens, and did some remodeling. At the time I met Otto he was a true showman. He had pictures of himself and movie stars located in the theatre. I think he was even wearing a tuxedo when I met him. I haven’t been in the theatre since Rogers bought it, but when Otto had it I thought it was a great old theatre. The marquee is particularly amazing at night.
This is a very nice twin screen theatre in downtown Marinette. They have great sound, comfortable seating with lots of leg room. All the ammenities of a modern-mega plex with the quaint charm of a twin.
The Grand is a nice theatre for a town of this size. Seeing a movie in the original auditorium is really cool, especially if you sit in the balcony. I saw a movie at the Grand in 1991, before it was “saved by Rogers”, it was quite a dump at that time. It had been seriously neglected for a long time, but was still cool at the time, if you like old single screens. I remember a group of employees from theatres in Appleton went there together. They left the door to the auditorium open, and light was coming in from the lobby. One of us went out to the lobby and asked if they could close the door. The woman responded “sorry, we need to make sure there are no problems with the movie”…We all laughed.
As of this date, according to the Nova Cinemas website, the theatre is “closed for remodeling”. It has been closed for a while now, and I suspect they aren’t planning on reopening it. It had been recently remodeled in 2001. Also, in a related matter, the “Showboat” theatre that is also located in Lake Geneva owned by them,is currently for sale. The last time I was at the Geneva theatre it was run by Carmike. I worked for Marcus at that time and was in town for a managers meeting at the Grand Geneva.We decided to see Forrest Gump again, there wasn’t even glass in the projection port…Made me laugh :)
Nice little 3-plex featuring in-theatre food, pizzas, burgers and traditional movie fare. It doesn’t seem to do much business though.The interior is very plain looking.
No great loss here. Operated by Essaness/Carmike. Small screens, no ceilings, exposed heating/ventilation, no stadium seating, no cup holders, bad sound, usually poor presentation.The only thing it had going for it was being attached to the Fox River Mall.
This is a very nice drive-in. It has a nice concession stand, game area, mini golf course, hay rides, and more. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking to take your family out for a good time.

Who would want a Carmike Cinema in their town? We couldn’t wait till ours finally closed down….
As of today, it appears to be open again, still by get reel cinemas.
This theatre is now a discount house. All seats just $3 or $4.00 Concessions are also cheaper than the local theatre. Great sound and projection.
So, I don’t know about this area, but are all 5 of those old theatre buildings now gone?
Marcus calls their big screens “ultrascreens”, and it is very popular, they charge an extra buck for movies shown on the Ultrascreen"
