This was built by AMC and sold to Carmike in 1992.
Sure its closed if CARMIKE had it.
it is still listed on the Mariner Mall website. It seems to have been expanded at some point to 7 screens. it seems to be an independent.
Its now run by Marcus.
It is now called the Superior 7 Cinema, yes it is operated by Marcus
Now known as Superior Value Cinema, because it is a 2nd-run house. Most likely due to the proximity of the first-run Duluth Cinema in the Canal Park section of downtown Duluth.
This must mean there’s an Inferior Theatre located nearby in this town…
Opened Dec. 1980 by AMC as a 4 plex in a mall that is on life support. After Carmike, it was Cinema Entertainment, which sold a number of its theatres to Marcus. So Marcus is the 4th operator. The photo (not provided by me) must of one of the new three added-on screens. That is not one of the original 4 screens. There are no other theatres operating in Superior.
Nothing special about this one, it was called Mariner 4 since it’s in the Mariner Mall. Opened 4 years after the UA in a Duluth mall. Of the two, Mariner was superior – typical smaller plex of its day.
Opened December 19th, 1980. Grand opening ad posted.
