Sadly closed and removed from the AMC website after the evening of 11/29/20. AMC Stubs members that had “favorited” the Lennox location as their preferred theater received an email stating that the location had closed and their preferred theater had changed.

Strange to see AMC purchasing a former Cinemark location that Cinemark had given up on years earlier. Makes me wonder if AMC only purchased it with the intention of closing it to funnel more business to the AMC Rave 14 in nearby Grove City, OH.

A side note about this theater; Cinemark was originally offered the land where the AMC Lennox 24 stands. Cinemark passed on the location deeming it “too expensive” and decided to build this 10 screen location in Hilliard instead. The theater never lived up to Cinemark’s attendance estimates while the Lennox was one of the best performing theaters for AMC for years.

I ran across a Facebook page for this theater once but I haven’t been able to find it again. If you know of it please comment here, I’d love to find it again.

I only saw one film at this theater. I loved the setup and the neighborhood atmosphere but the presentation was terrible. Picture quality was extremely poor, the print was scratched, and an amp was blown. Sad to hear it closed, with some improvements it could have been very nice.

@Mark_L, sounds like they’re moving ahead on their “Fork & Screen” concept at full speed.

I stopped by recently to look around. Many of the posters are actually taped together pieces of copy paper and most of the neon is burnt out. The box office is filled with trash up to counter and there is still a decorated Christmas tree up in the concession stand.

I haven’t had a chance to go in but I saw a lot of movies there as kid. My parents would almost always take me to Carsonie’s which is right out front after the show. Just off the top of my head I saw Back to the Future 2, The Hunt for Red October, The Shadow, Star Trek Generations, Groundhog Day, Phenomenon, and many more there.

The Place looks really rundown now from the outside. Several poster cases just sit empty because they are so badly broken and the ones that do work have the showtimes written on pieces of masking tape.

They will be opening their retrofitted “RaveXtreme” auditorium on 3/23/12 for The Hunger Games. It will compete for the large format audience that have been going to the AMC IMAX and Marcus UltraScreen locations in Columbus.

@JohnMessick, it’s actually a pretty good deal if you see a lot of movies. For $12 per year you get a size upgrade on all drinks and popcorn (i.e. the large drink for the medium price, etc.), invites to free advance screenings (I screened Warrior, Real Steel, and The Grey for free), and you receive $10 coupons for every $100 you spend on tickets and concessions.

My grandparents only live about 20 miles away from this theater but I haven’t found time to actually go in but I have driven by. I saw Aladdin there and I recall the theater being quite nice on the inside with beautiful red curtains.

I love the atmosphere of Studio 35 more than any other theater in Columbus. It is a completely unique experience. Unfortunately most of the films I’d like to see there are ‘classic’ films that they play on Blu-ray from a household digital projector which defeats the purpose of seeing a catalog title at the theater. I’d rather them work hard to get 35mm prints than watch a Blu-ray I can watch at home.

It would also be great if they could pump some money into the theater to get some work done. I’ve been going to Studio 35 since the late 90s and the wall carpeting and ceiling has always looked bad. I know money is probably tight but I’d love to see the theater completely rehabbed and return to glory since it really is a one of a kind theater in Columbus.

I believe I saw Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade in 70MM here. My dad grew up in Columbus and knew the theater well so when we moved to Columbus in 1989 that’s where he took me to see my first movie as a Columbus resident. I remember driving by the theater shortly after it closed and not understanding why it closed because I had a blast.

Theater was closed in 2008 if memory serves me correctly. The small Cinemark 2 screen theater was closed at the same time.

Nicholas Herum commented about AMC Dublin Village 18 on Jan 25, 2012 at 1:55 pm

Attended a screening of The Grey last night. First time I had seen a movie at this theater since 1995 (Congo). Digital presentation was good but the condition of the theater wasn’t great. Lots of cobwebs, dust bunnies, wall paper falling off the walls, numerous defunct SDDS signage, and the satellite concession stands were a mess and obviously hadn’t been used in years. Non-digital signage (box office, concession stand, theater doors) were not well kept and were often crooked and messy looking. Main box office and concession stands were messy and cluttered and the bathrooms were not as well kept as they could have been. Seating was somewhat uncomfortable in older non-highback, non-rocking chairs.

I know the theater is much older than the AMC Lennox 24 or AMC Easton 30 but there is definitely a “red headed stepchild” feel to the theater. The surrounding mall is mostly dead but there’s also no local competition aside from Cinemark Movies 12 which is subrun. AMC should really consider doing a major renovation and try to revitalize the property. They could easily expand the theater by buying up some of the surrounding empty lots and giving the Dublin area a nice first run facility that’s up to par with its sister theaters.
