Re: Tinseltoes link. There is a theatre called Fox’s Liberty Theatre in that ad. There does not seem to be a listing on Cinema Treasures for Fox’s Liberty or Liberty theatre in St. Louis. Did it go by any other names?

Note that in the 1986 photo there is a smaller sign under the marquee that says Gem Video. Must have operated as a video store for some time after closing as a theatre.
This theatre has another St. Louis connection: It was once managed by famous cyclist William Sachtleben. Sachtleben was from Alton, IL and gained notoriety when he and Thomas Allen, from nearby St. Louis, MO, traveled around the world on bicycles in 1892. They wrote a book about their travels and Sachtelben later returned to Turkey to locate Frank Lenz, another cyclist who went missing in a separate attempt to cycle around the world. This was the subject of a 2010 book entitled The Lost Cyclist.

I read on a site about hauntings that a lady once killed her baby in the balcony at this theatre. I don’t necessarily believe in ghosts, but does anyone know if such an event did take place?
I’m confused. The street view of the address listed above shows nothing that resembles bbrown1’s link nor anything that resembles a firehouse. Sadly, looking up and down main street, there don’t seem to be many buildings that aren’t boarded up.
It would be nice if they could tear down that godawful strip mall on the other side of the Skyview. Not only is the strip mall completely devoid of any cultural or architectural merit, the lights from it are very distracting to moviegoers.
I think this theater was actually about 2 or 3 miles further south at Woods Mill and Clayton. Maybe the address no longer exists.
Cinema Tour lists a Four Seasons Cinema I & II which is not listed here on Cinema Treasures. The address given is 68F Four Seasons Shopping Ctr. which is at the intersection of 141/Woods Mill and Olive. Does anyone remember that one?
I was in Hannibal last week. Apparently this is a music venue now, as the marquee listed The Marshall Tucker Band.
Haven’t been inside. It’s interesting because from the street and in the photos here it looks like a tiny place. I didn’t realize until after reading the description here and seeing that it has 1660 seats that that little white building was just the foyer.
Is it really supposed to be a replica of the St. Louis Arch? Anyone know what year this theater was built? The St. Louis arch wasn’t completed until 1965, long after the Drive-in boom, although there still were a few being built then.
I’ve seen photos of the Twin and the 1-70. Their arches appear to be four sided and red with illuminated white tiles, while the St. Louis arch is three sided and all silver in color (stainless steel actually). This arch is also alot wider in comparison to its height than the St. Louis arch.
Either way this theater is awesome and I hope to go there this summer.

I’d call the number but I’m assuming if it really still exists they would not be open this time of year anyway. Can any Sedalia residents shed some light on the subject? Is it still active? How come there’s not a link on cinema treasures? Thanks.

Saw this theater from the Amtrak on my way from KC to St. Louis a few days ago. I’m glad to see the place is currently operational.

I’m willing to bet all that ugly vinyl siding in the 2002 picture was not part of the original design.

Why would you put brown brick and aluminum siding on the lower half of a yellow brick art deco building?
